That's not actually a screenshot of HL2, that is a character rendered from the game composited with an actual photograph. The photographer used a complex method (using a mirrored sphere) to capture the lighting parameters of the environment the photo was taken in, and then used that data in the rendering of the HL2 character. Then he photoshopped it onto the bed.
