32-inch LCD TVs price drop to $799 by Christmas

LCDs are all the news today as an industry source predicts that 32-inch LCDs are going to drop below previous estimates to $799. Previously we reported that Wal-Mart and Best Buy would be selling a 32-inch house brand LCD for $999. The analyst from DigiTimes reports that some white box, or house brands, LCDs may dip even lower. Now don’t expect to pick up a Sharp Aquos, or any thing of quality, but still it is nice to see the prices drop.
Will the falling LCD prices influence your decision buy an LCD HDTV this holiday season or were you planning on a purchase anyway?

I was planning on getting a TV this holiday but honestly with the prices plunging and the dawn of SEDs not that far away, I have convinced myself to wait even longer...though it is ridiculously hard for me to do so since I love watching things in HDTV and am both a movie guy and a hardcore gamer.

I'm definitely getting an XBox 360 this November, but I'm waiting until the 42 inch Samsung DLP is around $1500 including a stand and shipping before I go high definition. I have a feeling those $800 models won't be so hot.

I'm sure the 800$ models won't be the best. However, if you are really itching to buy an HDTV set now you could probably buy an 800$ model this Christmas, wait until next Christmas and then buy what you really want. Over the year I wouldn't be surprised to see more than 800$ price drops on higher-end HDTVs, and you would still come out ahead of buying the higher-end set now.

Well, until EVERY network affiliate gets their act in gear, having that HDTV won't mean squat. Watching sub 480i on a 42" Hi Def screen makes your skin crawl.
