What HDTV shows would you like to see?
I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. I plopped down $1,500 for an HDTV set and I expect to see more programming in high definition real soon. Like tomorrow. Here's my short list of programs I want to see in HDTV. Please add to the list in the comments section. Show your fury!
1. PGA tournaments. I still haven't seen one golf game broadcast in HDTV.
2. All football games. Not just a select few, but all of them.
3. "Cops." I want to see 'em take 'em down in high def.
4. "Judge Judy." The woman's in her early 60s. I know there are some wrinkles there somewhere.
Plus, I want all high-def sports in Dolby 5.1 audio. And let's do something with the extra space on the widescreen. Maybe they could put up some stats that only folks with high-def sets could see. There's a slim space on both sides where they could easily position some vertical graphics.

Well, if it's widescreen then are they really pushing us an HD feed? Anywho - I'd definitely like to see something other than "HD" in grey on the sides when I'm watching non-HD programming on ESPN.
As for what I'd like, I wish the World Series of Poker was in HD, frankly.

Forget sports (except maybe golf). What I want is SciFi in HD. Heck, most of their new shows are already filmed in HD anyways (Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis).

:) "Cops" would be cool, but filming it would be a pain in the neck, don't you think? I'd love to see.. The Price Is Right! Ahhhh, pretty colors.

Pull all of those old filmed TV shows out of the archives and show us the wobbly sets, bad makeup, and ratty costumes! It worked for "Hogan's Heroes," how about "I Love Lucy", "Star Trek" and "St. Elsewhere."

I would really love to see more HD animation...I know theres the VOOM channel if you have Dish, but Ill be damned if Im shelling out $100 for an extra dish AND an extra $5 every month. I already pay $10 for an extremely small amount of HD...at least if they gave me the VOOM channels, I would be closer to getting my money's worth!

Golf, golf and more golf. The benefits of HD are best seen with outdoor scenes and golf is all outdoors.

Sci-Fi channel original series, FX original series, USA original series.
For that matter, anybody's original series -- surely very few are still filming new stuff in standard definition; we just need someone to cough up the bandwidth to air them properly.
It'd also be nice to see more classic movies aired as HD -- the Voom package on Dish does a few, but I'd love to see an HD version of AMC (and even TCM).

*grin* - thanks for this thread... Really i would like SciFi to once again re-think the HD... I saw an HD segment of Babylon 5 and it was stunning.
Keep an eye out for what Mark Cuban is up to also, since HDnet is one of his toys.

I caught BSG in HD on NBC a few weeks ago, man I wish this newest season was in HD.
Heck, I'd like to see the news networks start using HD... I enjoy World Report on HDNet but it's not comprehensive coverage.

I agree that the sci-fi channel (the *whole* channel) is the best candidate for HD. That said, most of the outdoor / how-to / lifestyle channels could benefit from the added detail: OLN, travel channel, DIY, etc.
And on te lighter side, how about "Baywatch"? I wonder how would Pam Anderson look after being upconverted :)

"Baywatch" in HD may reveal some surgical lines you wish you didn't see or know about.

I second the vote to put the SciFi channel in HD. Until then...only if you're Canadian you can enjoy Stargate Atlantis in HD.

I was able to catch the 2004 PGA Tournament in HD on CBS. It sealed the deal as far as how great HD can be. The rolling hills and greens of the course in Kohler, WI looked amazing. I don't even watch golf and I couldn't turn away!

Although I am not a hockey fan, I hope that some HD network picks up some NHL games this fall. The viewing experience will definitely be increased tenfold.
FYI, CBS has shown the Masters in HD for a couple of years now, and FOX shows new Saturday night episodes of Cops in HD. Indeed...reality shows in high definition are amazing!

New "Doctor Who." Oh snap, I should just settle on it being broadcast/televised in America first before demanding it in HD on top of that...
